The resistance that cannot be changed is called fixed resistor. The variable resistance is called potentiometer or variable resistor.
The nominal resistance value is the design resistance value marked on the resistor with a number or color code. The unit is Ω, k Ω, M Ω and T Ω. The resistance value is manufactured according to the standardized priority number series, which corresponds to the allowable deviation.
Allowable deviation The allowable large Z deviation between the actual resistance value and the nominal resistance value, expressed as a percentage. The commonly used ones are ± 5%, ± 10% and ± 20%, the precision ones are less than ± 1%, and the high precision ones can reach 0.001%. The accuracy is determined by the allowable deviation and the irreversible resistance change.
Rated power resistor is allowed to dissipate large Z power under continuous operation at rated temperature (Z high ambient temperature) tR. For each type of resistor, Z high working voltage is also specified, that is, when the resistance value is high, even if it does not reach the rated power, it cannot exceed Z high working voltage. When the working ambient temperature is lower than tR, the resistor cannot be used beyond its rated power. When it exceeds tR, the load power must be reduced. Each resistor has specified load characteristics. In addition, the load is allowed to be reduced under low air pressure. Under pulse load, the average pulse power is far lower than the rated power, unless otherwise specified.
Load characteristics When the working ambient temperature is lower than tR, the resistor cannot be used beyond its rated power. When it exceeds tR, the load power must be reduced. Each resistor has specified load characteristics. In addition, the load is allowed to be reduced under low air pressure. Under pulse load, the average pulse power is far lower than the rated power, unless otherwise specified.
The resistance temperature coefficient is within the specified ambient temperature range. The average relative change of resistance value when the temperature changes by 1 ℃ is expressed in ppm/℃. In addition to the above parameters, there are also nonlinearity (the degree of deviation between the current and the applied voltage characteristics from the linear relationship), voltage coefficient (the relative change rate of the voltage resistance value with each change of the applied voltage), flow noise (the ratio of the effective value of the noise potential generated by the current flow in the resistor to the test voltage, expressed by the current noise index) High-frequency characteristics (the relationship curve that the resistance value decreases with the increase of working frequency due to the influence of distributed capacitance and inductance in the resistor body, and long-term stability (the process that the resistance value changes irreversibly due to the influence of environmental conditions during long-term use or storage) and other technical indicators.
